Customs workers — this is your union
Join TCU: don't face it alone
If you wear the Customs badge — Kilindini, JKIA, Wilson, borders — TCU was filed for you. Add interest today: no fee, no deduction, no risk. Stay alone and you negotiate alone.
Honest position: TCU was refused 6 Feb 2004 and 10 Dec 2010; Appeal No.2/2011 is last on file. This form records interest — not membership, not a pay deduction, no promise of pay rises or case wins. 720 signed in 2003–04 to prove demand; your name proves it still exists.
What you gain / what you lose
- Gain a defence: help to document, defend and pursue fair process — instead of facing discipline or retirement alone as officers did from 1998.
- Gain a voice: joint negotiation on terms and conditions — one officer carries little weight, 720 carry weight (the core TCU concept).
- Gain a network: Coast, Western, Nairobi stations already covered — from Lunga Lunga to Malaba to Times Tower.
- Lose nothing by signing: no fee, no check-off here, confidential list. Lose isolation if you don't — no backup when it matters.
Who should sign?
Customs unionisable staff first — founders were all Customs Mombasa — plus Income Tax, VAT colleagues. See stations in Member support and founders in Phase 1.
How it works
1
Submit the form
Name, email, station/department (optional), topics of interest.
2
Confirm and choose topics
Confirm email and select updates (record, archive, revival).
4
Decide with facts
Share corrections with refs; formal membership only after lawful registration.
Will anything be deducted from my pay?
No via this form. In May 2004 714 signed check-offs were lodged under Sec.49 and KRA refused to deduct — leading to Misc. 1683/2004. No dues are sought here.
Will my employer be told?
No. Interest lists are confidential and reported only in aggregate. See Privacy notice.
Who was eligible then?
Unionisable KRA staff — the very point disputed by BIFU/KUCFAW/COTU/FKE in 2002 and settled in principle by Dulu 2008: only a specific union fits.
